William Patterson 
William was born in 1828 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. William's father was William Patterson and his mother was Frances Simmons. His maternal grandparents were James Simmons and Elizabeth Gillenwaters. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Fulton, Robert, Sarah, Mary and Nancy. He was the oldest of the six children.
