Robert was born on March 7th, 1862 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Robert's father was Sterling Mitchell and his mother was Clara Fletcher. His paternal grandparents were Greenberry Mitchell and Elizabeth Wilburn. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Jesse, Lewis, Amanda, Catherine, Elizabeth, Margaret, Martha and Mary. He died at the age of 81 on March 12th, 1943.-
