Christopher was born in 1583 in Somersetshire, England.  Christopher's father was John Maye and his mother was Martha Baskerfield.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Maye and Dorothy Mallett; his maternal grandfather was Humphrey Baskerfield. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Robert and Dorothy.
