Jeremiah Nicholson's father was William Massengill and his mother was Jane M. Nicholson. His paternal grandparents were Henry Massengill Jr. and Penelope Cobb. He had two brothers and a sister, named Alexander Porter, Pharoah Cobb and Rebecca Cathren. He had four half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Henry Porter, John, Michael J., William Porter, Ailsey, Deborah, Eliza C., Emaline A., Martha, Mary A., Penelope and Susan Porter.-
