Absalom was born in 1782 in , , Tennessee. Absalom's father was Benjamin Looney and his mother was Mary Johnson. His paternal grandparents were Robert Looney and Margaret Rhea. He had four brothers named John, Benjamin, Isom and Robert. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 78 in 1860 in , Hawkins, Tennessee.-
