Cleveland was born on July 3rd, 1884 in , , Ohio. Cleveland's father was Winfield Kent and his mother was Sarah Minerva Parsons. His maternal grandparents were Solomon Parsons and Amanda Cavanee. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Jacob, Robert, Ariville and Lovina. He was the third oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother named Henry.-
