Jacob was born on January 16th, 1750 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Jacob's father was George Keller and his mother was Barbara Anna Hottel. His paternal grandfather was George Keller; his maternal grandparents were John Hottel and Elizabetha. He had three brothers and five sisters, named George, Henry, John, Mary, Margaret, Anna, Barbara and Elizabeth.
