Charles M. was born on December 24th, 1882 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Charles M.'s father was Calvin Albert Johnson and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth Bowman. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Johnson and Sarah Whitson; his maternal grandparents were M. V. Bowman and Martha Jane. He had four brothers named Oscar Loval, Clay, William Bruce and Samuel D.. He was the oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers named William Guy, Thomas Paul and Colonel A.. He died at the age of 48 on March 21st, 1931.-
