James Hughes

James was born in 1827 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.  James' father was Robert Hughes and his mother was Elizabeth Devault.  His paternal grandfather was David Hughes; his maternal grandparents were Gabriel Devault and Magdalene Kitzmiller. He had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel Devault, Henry, David and Edna.  He was the second oldest of the five children.
