John Holmes 
John was born about 1713 in Edgecombe County, N. C.. John's father was John Holmes and his mother was Tamar Bird. His paternal grandparents were John Edward Holmes and Elizabeth. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Hardy, Edward, Gabriel, Charity, Ann, Rose, Beatrice, Dorothy and Mary.
