Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Hobgood and Elizabeth; her maternal grandfather was Samuel Morgan. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Lemuel, Elijah, Micajah, Samuel Morgan, John, William, Phereba, Frances, Elizabeth and Ruthemah. She was the youngest of the eleven children.-
