Myra Clark Whitney was born in 1856 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Myra Clark Whitney's father was Edmund Pendleton Gaines and her mother was Emily Esther Easley. Her paternal grandparents were John Strother Gaines and Letitia Dalton Moore; her maternal grandparents were John Easley and Mary Hamilton. She was an only child. She died at the age of 54 in 1910.-
