Jacob was born on January 13th, 1783 in , , NC. Jacob's father was William Fort and his mother was Elizabeth Hilliard. His paternal grandparents were Elias Fort and Sarah Suggs; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Hilliard and Sarah Battle. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Jeremiah Hilliard, James, Jacob Hilliard, William Anthony, Josiah W., Sarah Coleman and Mary Smith. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 2 on September 13th, 1785.-
