Her paternal grandparents were John Christian and Nancy Skelton; her maternal grandfather was Isaac Thrasher. She had a brother and five sisters, named Andrew J., Nancy, Ruth, Margaret E., Cassandra Or Cassa and Harriet. She was the oldest of the seven children.-
