John was born on November 4th, 1782 in North Carolina.  John's father was John Branch and his mother was Rebecca Bradford.  His paternal grandfather was John Branch; his maternal grandparents were John Bradford Jr. and Patience Reed. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, James, Martha Or Patsy and Patience W.. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Washington Lenoir, William Joseph and Elizabeth Ann.  He died at the age of 81 in 1863 in North Carolina.
