Benjamin's father was Francis Branch and his mother was Elizabeth. His paternal grandparents were George Branch Jr. and Ann England. He had two brothers and eight sisters, named Francis, George, Lydia, Martha, Mary, Sarah, Ann, Elizabeth, Hannah and Jane.
