Elizabeth's father was Thomas Ashton and her mother was Elizabeth Byron. Her paternal grandparents were John De Ashton and Jane Savile; her maternal grandfather was John Byron. She had three brothers and a sister, named Edmund, Geoffrey, John and Dulcia.
