Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Roger POE and Elizabeth LINN; her maternal grandparents were Henry MOWER and Mary UNKNOWN. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Phillip S. , Ernest T. , Arthur , Mary E. , Anna Byrd "Annie", Sarah D. and Glanedell . She was the second oldest of the eight children.
