His paternal grandfather was Thomas PERSELL ; his maternal grandparents were Jan AARTESE and Kijsie PIETERS. He had a sister named Catherine. He was the older of the two children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas, Jan , Jan Laurens, Hans Laurentzsen and Margaret.-
