Notes for John I. Moretz:
The Moretz family moved to NC sometime in the early 1700's. In the Orange County, NC Deed Book #5 page 365 dated 30 July 1771, there is a record of a John "Morice" (spelling not certain), a farmer of Orange, purchasing from Peter Richardon and his wife Elizabeth for 20 pounds, 72 acres, on a draff of the Stincking Quarter. This is very likely the same John Moretz due to the lack the lack of any other
Moretz household at that time in Orange County, NC.

Mourhes, Morris, Moorez, Moritz, and Mortz.
We know the same John Moretz had a daughter Charity who married Martin Staley from the 1772 records of Richland Lutheran Church.
