Samuel A. was born on April 5th, 1838 in Green Co., KY (Now Taylor). Samuel A. 's father was Elijah JONES and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth HEDGEPETH. His paternal grandparents were David JONES and Anne MOORE; his maternal grandparents were Lemuel HEDGEPETH and Lydia UNKNOWN. He was an only child. He died at the age of 70 on August 23rd, 1908 in Crooked Sourwood, Taylor Co., KY.General Notes
Military Service: Civil War: Company F, 13th Kentucky Infantry, USA
Note: Maple, Ky. -- Mr. Sam Jones died August 23, 1908, after a lingering illness, due to old age. Mr. Jones was born in 1820, being 87 years old at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Nancy Scott and to this union were born seven childern, four sons and three daughters, and all of them are yet living. Mrs. Jones has been dead many years. Mr. Jones was in every way a useful man as a private citizen and was honored and respected by all who knew him. The remains were conveyed to the Jones Cemetery on Jones Creek and buried. The LaRue County Herold September 24, 1908. Co. 1900
