Hazel Mary was born on July 10th, 1907 in Whetstone, Clay Co., WV. Hazel Mary 's father was William (Poker Bill) Wyatt DAWSON and her mother was Florence Margaret CART. Her paternal grandparents were Richardson Hensley Dawson and Eve Ann (Rogers) MILLER ; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin LeMasters BOGGS and Sarah Catherine Cart. She had two brothers and a sister, named William Arnold, Patrick Albert "Pat" and Wanda. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Robert (Bob) Lee and Alice May. She died at the age of 93 on April 18th, 2001 in Oneonta, Blount Co., AL .General Notes

Note:
Aunt Hazel took in 417 foster children throughout her lifetime and was commended by the Governor of Alabama for her work. She was 87 when she took the last or her "children" in. She received mail from all over the country from these children and was proud of each of them.
She was an amazing women.
Aunt Hazel passed away in 2001, her favorite pastime was talking about the "Red Haired" neighbor next door. She had a charming little house in Oneonta, Blount, Al., with frilly curtains, and beautiful white cotton bedspreads. She sat on her screen porch and watched the people in the park across the street. She was slender, alert, very active and loved to tell stories about her past.
