Joseph BACKHOUSE 
Joseph was born about 1829 in Nicholas Co., WV. Joseph 's father was John A. BACKHOUSE and his mother was Phobe "Pheby" JOHNSON. His paternal grandparents were Joseph BACKHOUSE and Hannah D. WILSON . He had four brothers and four sisters, named John , James, Jonathan, Willliam , Polly , Elizabeth , Nancy and Hannah. He was the third oldest of the nine children.
