Narrative

Edmund Goode lived for a time in Bowling Green, Caroline Co., Va., whence
he removed to Bedford Co. It was probably he to whom, Aug 27, 1770 was
granted 1630 acres of land in Bedford Co., Virginia. He was a soldier in
the war of the Revolution, and either before or immediately after the war
removed to the beautiful region near the base of the Peaks of Otter. p.

His wife Sarah Branch Goode was living in Bedford Co., Va aged 84 in 1839.
He was a soldier in the Virginia Continental Line, serving in the South,
and fought in the battles of Camden (probably the second battle, April
25, 1781), Guilford C. H., March 18, 1781, and at Eutaw Springs, April
18, 1781. He served under Gen. Greene, and was near Capt. Watts and Capt.
Morgan when they were wounded at Eutaw Springs, and assisted in carrying
them from the field; they were to have been cavalry officers under Col.
William Washington, who was wounded also at Eutaw Springs. pp. 470 - 471
