!Merlin Byrne was my mother's younger brother. He was born Jul 28
1908 and died on July 25, 1971. His Obituary: Tilden-- Funeral
services for Merlin Owen Byrne, 63 will be at 9 A.M. Wednesday in the
St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Tilden Cemetery.
Brice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Byrne was dead on
arrival at a Jourdanton Hospital early Monday. A native of Tilden he
had lived in Three Rivers several years before returning to Tilden.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John Byrne of Dunkirk, Ind.,
Richard Byrne of Ft. Benning, Ga., and Michael Byrne of Nonterey,
Calif.; one daughter, Miss Marilyn Byrne of Tilden; one brother,
Arthur Byrne of Three Rivers; and one sister, Mrs. L.O. Hartman of
George West. I was a pall bearer for Merlin and right after the
funeral we left for Uvalde as I had to be a pall bearer for Mrs.
