Narrative

Marilyn's K. Murphy's Notes & Collection of Obituaries and Newspaper Clippings:
From Marilyn's collection of obituaries:
"Mattie E. Murphy, daughter of W. K. and Elizabeth Murphy, was born at Mooresburg, Pulaski county, Ind., Nov. 18, 1861. She died at her childhood home Aug. 14, 1911, age 49 years, 8 months and 24 days.
When a child of five years she was baptised; later under the ministery of Rev. Burner she joined the Mooresburg Methodist church. She had continued a member until her death.
Three brothers are living, N. Arch, former treasurer of Pulaski county, Charles and Clyde. These with other relatives mourn her death.
She had been away from home for many years in business life in Winamac, Kewanna and later in Chicago. For several years her health had been failing, yet she bravely kept at her work. Twelve weeks ago she came home saying that she would rest up for a little while and then go back to her work again. Soon her family discovered that the dreaded consumption was claiming another victim. She was courageous and hoped to recover even after the physicians had said there seemed no hope.
Funeral services was conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. C. E. Beebee of Star City. She was buried in the family lot in the Mull cemetery two and a half miles east of her home.
