Narrative
Peter Brown II, son of Peter Brown (1), and Mary Brown, was born in Plymouth in 1632. With Governor Bradford, he was one of the thirty original purchasers of Dartmouth in 1652. He removed from Drexbury to Windsor, CT. He took the Freeman's Oath at Windsor in 1658, being then twenty-six years old. He married July 15, 1658, and was admitted to the Windsor Church on June 22, 1662. "July 17, 1659, the wife of Peter Brown appeared publicly to attain baptism for children". In the levying of taxes in 1675, his name appears as having a family, a horse, and two oxen. He volunteered a subscription of nine shillings and seven pence for the poor in other colonies on June11, 1672. He was a miller by trade, and allowed to take toll.
In the Windsor burying grounds his tombstone reads: "Peter Brown, aged near 69. de dyed the 9th day of March, 1692."
