Ardabast was born in Greece.1 Ardabast's father was Athanagild of the Visigoths and his mother was Juliana Flavia. His paternal grandparents were Herminegild II the Holy King of Visigoths and Ingunda de Austrasia; his maternal grandfather was kinsman of Byzantine Emp. He was an only child.-
