Samuel S Strong 
Samuel S was born in 1652 in Northampton, Hampshire, MA.1 Samuel S' father was John Strong and his mother was Abigail Ford. His paternal grandparents were John Strong and Unknown; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Ford and Elizabeth Charde. He had six brothers and eight sisters, named Thomas, Jedediah, Return, Ebenezer, Joseph, Jerijah, Abigail, Elizabeth, Experience, Mary, Sarah, Hannah, Hester and Thankful. He was the eighth oldest of the fifteen children. He had two half-brothers named Infant and John. He died at the age of 80 in 1732 in Northampton, Hampshire, MA.1 General Notes
On Aug. 10, 1711, he and his son Samuel Jr., took a team of horses out of Northampton to a meadow to get a load of grain. They soon were ambushed by three Indians. When the townspeople rushed there they found young Samuel dead and the father gone. Samuel Sr. had been wounded and taken prisoner. He was taken to Canada but later returned home. He arrived home on a Sabbath and entered the meeting house to the surprise and joy of the congregation.
