Maria was born in 1032 in of Constantinople, Turkey.1   Maria's father was Konstantinos IX Monomachus Byzantine Emp and her mother was Pulcheria Sklerina.  Her maternal grandfather was Basileios Skleros.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 35 in November 1067.1
