Maurice de Berkeley was born in 1218 in Berkley Castle, Gloucester, England.1 Maurice de Berkeley's father was Thomas "The Observer" FitzHarding de Berkeley and his mother was Joan de Somery. His paternal grandparents were Maurice FitzRobert "the Make Peace" FitzHarding and Alice de Berkeley; his maternal grandparents were Ralph de Somery Baron Dudley and Margaret FitzGilbert Marshal. He was an only child. He died at the age of 63 on April 4th, 1281 in England.1 -
