Toirrdelbach macDiarmata's father was Diarmait macToirrdelbaig King of Munster and his mother was Mor Ua Conchobair. His paternal grandfather was Toirrdelbach O'Brien King of Munster & Ireland; his maternal grandfather was Ruaidri Ua Conchobair King of Connacht. He was an only child. He died in 1167.1
