Gytha was born about 1053 in London, MIddlesex, England.1   Gytha's father was Harold II Godwineson King of England and her mother was Ealdgyth "Swan-neck" (of England).  Her paternal grandparents were Godwin of Wessex Earl of Wessex & Kent and Gytha Thorkilsdottir; her maternal grandparents were Morcar of Northumbria and Ealdgyth (Edgitha) of Mercia. She had two brothers named Ulf and Harold.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had a half-brother named Edward the Outlaw.  She died in 1107 in Russia.2
