William Floyd 
William was born on December 17th, 1734 in Mastic, Suffolk, Long Island, NY.1 William's father was Nicolls Floyd and his mother was Tabitha Smith. His paternal grandparents were Richard Floyd and Margaret Nicolls; his maternal grandparents were Jonathan Smith and Elizabeth Platt. He had a sister named Ruth. He died at the age of 86 on August 4th, 1821 in Westernville, Oneida, NY. He was buried in Presbyterian Churchyard, Westernville, Oneida, NY.1 1 General Notes

General William Floyd served in the Revolution as colonel of the
First Regiment of Suffolk County, and was a member of the first
Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of
Independence. He was elected senator in the first
constitutional legislature of New York, in 1777, and appointed
by the legislature as a member of the Continental Congress in
1778 and again in 1779, and was a member of the First United
States Congress, which convened in New York 4 Mar 1789.
