His paternal grandparents were Ivar Jarl of the Uplands and daughter of Trondheim; his maternal grandparents were Ragnvald Gudrodsson and Tora Sigurdsdottir. He had a brother and a sister, named Ragnvald I Eysteinsson the Wise and Swanhilda.1 General Notes
