Ivo de Grentmesnil was born in 1064 in Grentmesnil, Calvados, France.1 Ivo de Grentmesnil's father was Hugh de Grentmesnil Lord Hinckley and his mother was Adelaide de Beaumont. His paternal grandparents were Robert de Grentmesnil and Advise (Hawisa) de Escalfoy; his maternal grandparents were Ivo de Beaumont and Adelaide de Gournay. He had a sister named Adeliza. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 54 in 1118.2
