``James Coghill of Sittingburne Parish in Rappahannock county, Va, Planter.
To wife Mary, the Plantacon whereon I live during her life with all my household goods hogs and cattle one mare and one horse and if she dies a widow then to be divided among all our children. To my eldest son 225 acres of land one mare with all my coopers and carpenters tools to be equally divided between William and James. To son James 225 acres of land one mare my own gun and sword. To son David 200 acres of land and one mare and one gun. To sone ffederick 200 acres of land. To a child unborn if a boy 200 acres of land if not to return to within four sons above mentioned. and to my son ffrederick I bequeath one mare. All which land given of one divident to be equally divided according to quantity and quality every one taking their portion as they are capable to manage it every one according to age to take their choice. To daughters Margrett and Mary 600 acres of land lying in another Divident 200 acres of this land to a child unborn if a girle if not to Remain to the above Margrett and Mary and of the increase of David and ffrederick Maryes to Returne to Margrett and Mary each of them a mare of one year old apiece. I do appoint David and ffrederick to be at age at eighteen and to enjoy their estate if their mother Marryeth. Exutor my son [not named] and my wife Mary.''
