R.S. fought under Gen. Francis MARION "Swamp Fox", Gen. SUMTER & Col. GUSSET; he served 3mos as quarter master during 1780 under Gen. SUMTER ans 330 days in 1781 as a ferrier under Col. GUSSETT AA 5704X150. Copies of Military Records in S.C. Archives # 5704. William was granted land in Orangeburg Dist 1788; W.Z.DANTZLER Plat Coll. William, along with three brother settled in Virginia. They were of English descent. D. Graham COPELAND's original manuscript can be found in the S.Caroliniana Library, on U.S.C., Columbia, S.C.
