Narrative

Will dated 2/24/1793, proved 5/1795 in Surry Co., NC, will book 3.

In Louisa Co., VA, deed John and Edith (Hutches) Stanley of Louisa County, and Benjamin Chiles and his wife Millicent (Stanley) Chiles jointly deeded land to Jonathan Stanley of Albemarle County, VA. The abstract read had no date, but referred to Louisa County "Record" Book F, Page 139 - Probably a court order book, this deed could have had something to do with the settlement of the estate of John Stanley "The Eldest", who died in July 1783 at Cedar Creek, Hanover Co., VA. Louisa County tax records show "John Stanley , Sr." being taxed for land there in 1767.
