Obit, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Sunday May 21, 2000:

PAYNE
Noble B. Payne, 85, of Richmond, departed this life Thuirsday May 28, 2000 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gertrude; brothers, Durward, Samuel, Ashby, and Stuart; sisters, Evelyn, Ethelyn, Thelma, Bernice, Annabel, and Eleanor. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, R. Dwight and Nancy Payne, and two granddaughters, Katheryn and Mary Ellen Payne. His remains rest at Bliley's Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Mr. Payne was a decorated WWII Army veteran, Mentor and Master Mason of Temple Lodge #9 AF & AM, member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Chruch, and a retired employee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 4768 Shannon Hill Rd., Columbia, Va. 23038.
