Says he died 14 Aug 1040 in Pitgaveny (formerly called Bothnagowan), near Elgin, Morayshire and was buried in Iona, Argyl, Scotland. He was killed in battle against MacBeth, his successor. He reigned as King of Scotland 1034-1040. Duncan I was a King of Alba. He was a Prince of Cumbria.

Duncan King of Scotland in 1033 - killed by Macbeth Book of McKee pg 331 states Duncan's name was (according to O'Flaherty) Donnchad Mac Crionain, and he reigned six years from 1034-1040.
