Ann was born in 1784 in Upton-upon-Chalvey, England.  Ann's father was Charles Smith and her mother was Elizabeth (Mother). She had three brothers and six sisters, named William, James, Robert, Elizabeth, Carolina, Sarah, Mary, Martha and John.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 70 in 1854.
