Violet Claude Edison was born in 1892 in Dunolly, Victoria. Violet Claude Edison's father is James Taylor and her mother was Margaret Ann Walker. Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Henry Walker and Esther Ann Russell. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Frederick, Gordon Graham, James Colin, Cyril James, Ellen Elizabeth, Amelia Ann, Lavinia and Roseanne Eveline. She is the fifth oldest of the nine children.
