Marian was born on September 12th, 1948.  Marian's father was Jan Filipek and his mother is Heronima Filipek (Kondraciuk).  His maternal grandparents were Andrzej Kondraciuk and Elżbieta Kondraciuk (Szeszko). He has a brother and a sister, named Tomasz and Sylwia.  He is the oldest of the three children.

Marian and Anna were married in a religious ceremony on January 19th, 1979 in Gdańsk by the priest.1   They have two daughters named Magdalena and Dorota.
