John was born in 1744 in Hampsthwaite, England, United Kingdom.1   John's father is Abraham Haxby and his mother is Alice Leeming.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Haxby and Jane Lolley.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 76 in 1820.1
