Louisa Johanna Petronella was born on August 30th, 1826 in van Blerk farm, Elze River, Simons Town. Louisa Johanna Petronella's father was Nicolaas van Blerk and her mother was Louisa Johanna Cats (van Blerk). Her paternal grandparents were Simon Petrus van Blerk and Johanna Margaretha Bergh (van Blerk); her maternal grandparents were Samuel Johs Cats and Cathariena Margareta van Coller. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Simon Petrus, Samuel Johannes Hendrikus, Johannes Andries, Nicolaas Johannes, Catharina Margaretha Johanna and Johanna Jacoba Geertruida.
