Her paternal grandparents were Jan Carel van Blerk and Johanna Christina Frederika Klingbeil; her maternal grandparents were Johannes Adam Raubenheimer and Evon Francina van der Heever (Raubenheimer). She had a brother and two sisters, named Johan Carel, Emmerentia Frederika and Louisa Adriana. She was the second youngest of the four children.General Notes
