Jan Hendrik was born in 1885 in Free State. Jan Hendrik's father was Fredrick Johannes van Blerk and his mother was Anna Cornelia Petronella Viljoen (van Blerk). His paternal grandparents were Marthinus Samuel van Blerk and Elizabeth Susanna Johanna Frylinck (van Blerk); his maternal grandparents were Pieter Nicolaas Viljoen and Elizabeth Gezina Johanna (Viljoen) Botma (Viljoen). He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Pieter Nicolaas, Johannes Frederik, Marthinus Samuel, Cornelius Christoffel, Gideon Johannes, Rozier Bernadus, Marthinus Samuel, Elizabeth Gezina Johanna, Elizabeth Susanna Johanna, Anna Cornelia Petronella and Johanna Louisa. He died at the age of 65 on September 25th, 1950 in Olifantsfontein.General Notes
