Jan Barend was born on January 14th, 1770. Jan Barend's father was Jan Barend van Blerk and his mother was Geertruy Swart (van Blerk). His paternal grandparents were Nicolaas van Blerk and Dina van Deventer (Heyns); his maternal grandparents were Johannes Swart and Maria Francina Meyhuyzen (Swart). He had a brother named Jan Barend. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 1 on August 8th, 1771.
