Ivan Cyril Francis was born on July 19th, 1921 in Bloemfontein.  Ivan Cyril Francis' father was Petrus Jacobus x van Blerk and his mother was Daisy Evelene Smith (van Blerk). He had a sister named Olive Evelyn.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 56 on December 13th, 1977 in National Hospital Bloemfontein, Free State.

They had a son and two daughters, named Graham, Rene and Evelyn Marjorie.
